Welcome to Hebrew Herald
This site aims to offer information on the History of Jewish Heraldry and the possibilities of renewed use for it with the Hebrew language. We hope to update the blog posts regularly and to offer useful sources and links, for those interested in enriching their world by connecting with Heraldry or with the Jewish story, as it was affected by heraldry. This effort is not currently supported by any organized or official channel, so any contribution to the maintenance of the website and into research required for posts, is very welcome. Written dedications are possible, by contacting us directly.
Additionally, we offer our services in the design, illustration and registration of heraldic insignia according to the ancient rules and styles of European Heraldry, but with a knowledge of Jewish customs and traditions, and from a Jewish perspective. Preservation of family trees and even genealogical research can also be carried out on your behalf. Further details can be found on our Services page. But please contact us with any question or service request, so we can tailor to your needs the correct service, as the possibilities are varied.
Subscribe to our site to enjoy our upcoming posts, we hope you will find the information on the site helpful and we look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for visiting!
Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.
Bible, numbers 2 2 (Kjv)
This biblical quote was often used by early modern writers on Heraldry as a proof of it’s antiquity in Europe.
Now considered debunked, the quote nevertheless stands as a proof of the antiquity of Jewish heraldry.
